This is a really wonderful song that I heard during my 2004 India trip, when Harini, myself, and our family were going to a restaurant. What was even cooler was that this song takes place when Surya and Jyothika take a road trip, and we were also listening to the song when we were heading somewhere in the car! I, of course, didn't know this, but had the song stuck in my head (singing wrong lyrics and tunes) and wanted to find the song. When I went to Bang, my friend there told me which song it was and I immediately bought the cassette (I wasn't "hip" at that time :D). I have this song and my other favorites in a bunch on my iPod (apparently I'm "hip" now) and keep listening to it very often. Beautiful scenes shown in the video of the song, and one of my all-time favorites.

Wow, incredible translation done by Pari's blog. I had to get some help as I couldn't understand the full meaning of the song. My mother tongue is Tamil, yet there is some old Tamil involved in this song, so I couldn't understand it properly. In any case, outstanding translation. 

In other notes, this song has always been one of my favorites since I heard one of its friends, Ennai Konjam Maatri, which I will be posting next. I love the way the music and lyrics just flow into you, and you can't help it but sing, and the one thing that really took me by surprise is when I was just merely humming this song, my sister heard and immediately wanted to listen to the song; the song is that good. Hats off to Karthik, the singer, and hats off to Rahman. Also the Gibberish by Sunitha Sarathy is quite nice. I say gibberish, because I have no clue what she is saying (no offense).

Author's View:

I think this is an awesome song, really. Perhaps because of the slow start, when I actually listened to the song (and this was a couple of years ago), I didn't like it. Yesterday, I sat down and watched the movie for the first time, and I saw that this song fit the movie perfectly. The travelling without a care (which is what I like to do most of the time) and the song's meanings were beautiful. Then I realized that I couldn't get it out of my head, and I still can't. I am not sure if the translations are correct, it's the best I could do, still they are very meaningful. Oh, if only life is so!

I love this song, I just heard it today, and I'm amazed at the beat and the guitar strumming. I like the male vocals better than the female vocals, Sadhana Sargam's getting better though.

The tune and beats of this song are awesome and so are the malayali lyrics in the middle which are my favorite. Honestly I like the hindi version of Dil Se much better except for Sandhosha Kanneere. The tamil lyrics seem much cooler in that song. The hindi version of this song, Jiya jale jaaon jale is foot-tapping and mesmerizing, especially the middle part. I love Shahrukh in any movie even if the movie sucks, and trust me, Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna is an example of that. It's sort of sad during this song. On one hand, Zinta is happy that she's getting married, and on the other hand, Koirala is completely heart-broken that she's not the bride. I know Shahrukh feels the same way too as he's watching Koirala the whole time. Too bad Koirala and Shahrukh die together in the end, a sign of true love. Oops, did I just give away the ending of the movie? My bad.... Oh, who cares, this movie released 15 years ago, I'm sure most people have watched it.
